Bryan Fuller has been tapped to produce the upcoming Star Trek TV series.
Hannibal Would Drink Klingon Blood Wine
You can probably guess that we’re pretty big fans of the series that brought us the red shirts and couldn’t be happier with CBS’s announcement that Bryan Fuller, showrunner and writer for the always excellent Hannibal, has been tapped to help run the newest incarnation of the Star Trek tv series.
Not only did Fuller start out writing for Trek, with writing credits on Deep Space Nine and Voyager under his belt, he’s spent the intervening years crafting incredible stories with Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls and Pushing up Daisies. Not to mention Hannibal, which just ended an amazing 3-season run. Fuller is perfectly poised to bring Star Trek experience and a sophisticated storytelling toolbox to the new series.
The only tidbits we have from the new series are that it won’t be in the continuity of the rebooted film franchise starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
“My very first experience of Star Trek is my oldest brother turning off all the lights in the house and flying his model of a D7 Class Klingon Battle Cruiser through the darkened halls,” Fuller said in a statement. “Before seeing a frame of the television series, the Star Trek universe lit my imagination on fire. It is without exaggeration a dream come true to be crafting a brand new iteration of Star Trek with fellow franchise alum Alex Kurtzman and boldly going where no Star Trek series has gone before.” – See more at: http://www.startrek.com/article/bryan-fuller-named-co-creator-of-new-star-trek-tv-series#sthash.o3eTnwaK.dpuf
